Born Jan 23 in Mumbai, India, Shilpa Kakwani is an upcoming fashion stylist in the Industry today with a formal degree in Apparel manufacture and design from SNDT Womens University and a course in Image Consultancy & Styling from Instituto Marangoni, Milan, Italy. Some of the other courses done by Shilpa to hone her designing skills were : Fashion Merchandising & marketing from EIOL, related to Cambrian university, Canada) and a fashion course from ICAD, Basic Summer course in Design at Parsons New York.

The above education combined with an inherent sense of aesthetics, Shilpa established Studio Five, a design studio in Juhu, Mumbai in 1998. Some of the clients she catered to during that phase included assisting Mrs Sood at Balaji Telefilms,which is a leading media production company in India for their various tv shows. Her other commercial endeavours include being a mens wear designer at Provogue,(a well endorsed retail brand) for a period of 6 months and at Esprit, Delhi as a design and retail consultant.
